| As a young man in my early twenties, I saw this great Kodachrome slide of my father that was taken when he was about 17 years old. For a moment I was taken back in time to 1950. In an instant that single image communicated more information to me about my Dad, and what his life was like, than volumes of written words could have. I was hooked. At that moment I knew I wanted to capture what I saw of life around me, on film.What started out as a photographic journal of my friends and family slowly grew into a passion for creating beautiful images that communicate feelings and ideas.Working as a photographer alters the way I look at the world, and I like that. The challenge is in choosing how to condense or distill what I see, into an image that quickly conveys the essence of that project or moment.I love photography, not just my photos, but the work of many other shooters as well. Photographs have the power to convey so much emotion and beauty in just a few seconds, they inform and entertain us. I’m lucky to be able to practice this craft on a day to day basis.
